Revelations’ is the result of three years’ hard work by Dutch DJ Johann Gielen, and even though it’s a double album the sense of structure is most impressive. Gielen doesn’t stick to a single style, although he’s best when pushing a harder trance style. There are several differing takes on trance here – ‘Magnitude’ is a mighty, multi-layered Balearic wonder, ‘Moments’ iis acredible slower vocal track, while the title number uses a less conventional piano sound set against an off beat trancey riff. The three remixes added to CD2 sign the project off on a high, with the Breakable Down mix of ‘Moments’ a highlight. A powerful record that knows when to gofer the jugular.
