Kromestar who is also known as Ironsoul for his grime production, has quickly risen through the dubstep elite with multiple releases under his belt. His latest double CD release sees dark and seriously bass heavy tracks, mixed together on CD 1, while CD 2 is unmixed for the DJs. Grime and heavy bass are the order of the day here, b lines wobble and undulate with a distinctly wonky groove. From ‘Bassbin’ the first track through to ‘Mad Fever’ Kromestar sets out his stall early on to show he takes no prisoners on this bass excursion…but wait there is a lighter side too, the likes of ‘Technique’ ‘Inside’ and ‘Liveandexperience’ see a flurry of liquid D n B inspired euphoric moments. Check ‘Rackit’ loving the use of violins on this unnerving Michael Nyman- esque track.
