Stately ambience walking shy yet evocative lines from Arab Strap’s Aidan Moffat; ‘Jim Dodge Dines…’ canters cross-country on horseback, ‘Crush’ plays like an orchestral comedown, the charmingly named ‘Rotspots from the Crap Map’ adds Herbaliser/Up Bustle & Out mistrust borne out of its title, and somewhere in between is the peace of mind-providing ‘Baby Breeze’. ‘Fan-Dance’ is a mystery in miniature, ‘Velbon’ cameos a lonely pianist coming out of their shell for ‘Total Horizontal’, and before you know it, 40 spellbinding minutes have weaved their magic and won you over.
