Layo Paskin and Matthew Benjamin’s ‘Feel Closer’ perfectly takes the mantel from the six-figure selling ‘All Night Long’ evoking passion, exuding soul and generally getting us in the mood for a good night out. From the rocky riffs of ‘Ride The Train’ to the darkly menacing ‘Life2Live’ featuring the unmistakable Green Velvet. Eclecticism is riff as we move through bluesy funky (‘Smith Street’ featuring a jaw-dropping sax solo) before soaring to equally great heights on the funk scale. But the real pice de rŽsistance is their ability to pull classics outta the crates, dust them down and make them sound like new. ‘Isn’t This A Lovely Day’ blends elements from Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong to quite stunning effect. Refreshing without being overly anal combining familiar elements in juxtapose compulsive collages that can be savoured on a dancefloor or from the comfort of your home.
