Though ‘Please Tell Me’ confesses they’ve “served sentence in trying to be cool”, the way LB work their six-string blues with INFUSIONS of 60s R&B-soul and recording techniques from yore’s days, makes labelling them ‘cool’ unavoidable. Working up rollickings like Ocean Colour Scene steering their riverboat, amongst swaggers of Hendrix and The Bluetones at their most sleazily bedridden, bouts of twisted limbed swing & sway become inescapable, as if teleported direct from an Old Grey Whistle Test. As soon as the plug hits the amp Little Barrie turn into something much, much bigger.
