Born in Puerto Rico in the early ’60s, Liz Torres was raised in Illinois where she developed her vocal stylings as one of the premier Latin house freestyle singers of the late-’80s. This compilation drawing together her finest work that helped shape the sound of the Chicago house music scene with the guidance of Master C&J (Carl Bias and Jesse Jones). Unfortunately whilst her material with Jive Records (‘Payback Is A Bitch’ and ‘If You Keep It Up’) is missing, her work for the legendary Trax imprint is still as relevant today as it was two decades ago. Dark, sensuous and sexy in the main, tracks like ‘Face It’, ‘Fantasize Me’ and ‘Mind Games’ defined the late night, underground dancefloor experience where rhythm, sweat and sex where interchangeable and all part of the clubbing experience.
