In 1985 when “The Album” from Mantronix first surfaced, it blew everything else clean out of the water. Kurtis Mantronik created sharp clean cut electro rhythms while MC Tee layed down his rhymes, advancing hip hop into new territory, it struck a chord with kids from every walk of life, as it ripped up clubs & playgrounds on a global scale, sprouting the singles “Bassline” & “Ladies”. Obviously this time round it’s not gonna have the world wide knockout impact that it had before, but it still sounds totally inspiring & fresh. You need a copy of Mantronix “The Album”, it’s a blueprint for many of today’s artists, as well as being a fat slice of history.
