Per Martinsen, Norway’s electronica kingpin, shows that his empty, almost too obvious Kraftwerk aesthetics, playing basic synth melodies like the British New Wave first discovering their Korgs and Rolands, are just a front for his ability to really mix things up. ‘Yeeh’ French kisses, ‘New Clear Day’ snaps bleep beats with a childlike periphery, ‘Dekadin’ inserts a surprising middle third, ‘Kawasaki’ jacks as a soundclash and most significantly, the old skool hardcore-nu skool grime ‘Deliverance’ tosses in a true Tromso terranova. Fine fare all round.
