METRONOMY
PIP PAINE (PAY THE £5000 YOU OWE)
HOLIPHONIC

Brighton based Joseph Mount is Metronomy, he’s already clocked up a celebrity fan base, having remixed Franz Ferdinand, Ladytron, Roots Manuva, Sebastien Tellier & Bright Eyes amongst others, and he’s been getting all sorts of praise & slaps on the back from radio & press. So it comes as no surprise that his debut album ‘Pip Paine’ is one of this year’s most anticipated releases. Opening with the brilliant current single ‘You Could Easily Have Me’, all low slung riffs over a cheap drum machine, Metronomy will have you hooked, if not slightly puzzled right from the off. Other highlights include ‘Love Song For Dog’ with it’s sweet melodies & over the top beat programming DJ Shadow style. ‘Black Eye / Burnt Thumb’ is like a hell raising episode of Captain Pugwash, all shifty eyed & shot through with chaos. While ‘1 String Strung’ causes prickly heat & ‘How Say’ will make you grind your teeth. It’s hard to make comparisons to Metronomy, but if you can imagine Four Tet having a battle with Lemon Jelly, then you’re sort of heading in the right direction.
