Following a turbulent few years in his late teens of drug abuse and involvement with some unsavoury characters , which resulted in a spell in prison, Micah P. Hinson was catapulted from fucked up skate kid to world wide critical acclaim, in 2004 with the release of his magnificent debut album ‘Micah P. Hinson And The Gospel Of Progress’. He went touring around the globe and things were definitely looking up. Then after celebrating Burns night 2005 in his hometown Albilene, Texas, a friend playfully hit Micah in the square of his back, which left him momentarily paralysed, hunched over and in constant pain, but Micah soldiered on with his European tour, but in aid to cope he was back on a whole list of prescription drugs. When he returned to the U.S. he was rushed to hospital for surgery. Being confined to his house, the only way to make his new album was for guest musicians to come to him, he later christened this pool of friends ‘The Opera Circuit’, and together they created 11 sung from the gut, heart wrenching songs, which will put a lump in the throat of even the most hardened of rednecks. He’s done it again, ‘Micah P. Hinson And The Opera Circuit’ is a record of outstanding fragile beauty.
