There are few male garage vocalists that can touch the velvety tones of Michael Procter. His work with the Urban Blues Project is now legendary, and yet solo success has all but eluded him. Quite why is a mystery but at least we get another chance to sing his praises. Despite being sub-titled “the ultimate house music collection”, there’s no illusions of grandeur from the man who first burst forth onto the dance scene a decade ago with the anthemic ‘Deliver Me’, and has be responsible for a wealth of club classics since. All are included –‘Love Don’t Live’, ‘Paradise’, ‘Fall Down’ and ‘The Way Love Goes’. Belting with a level of authority that only comes with time and experience the combination of invigorating gospel-tinged garage, simple yet immediately memorable songs, and smooth instrumentation make this a delight to hear.
