Mlle Caro & Franck Garcia are Ben Watt’s first artist signing to the Buzzin’ Fly album, and they deliver with a first album of great depth and beauty. The two vocalise together, doubling up in songs that speak with a sweetly melancholic flavour, ‘Dead Souls’ being an exquisite example with its unexpected grandeur. ‘Mon Ange’ is slower, and has a gorgeous, spun out string melody, while ‘Lost’ is a classy piece of deep house, sharpened around the edges. Blending these soft vocals and danceable beats leads to a fragile balance that the duo keep throughout, lending the songs a vulnerable side but making sure they stay suitable for the dancefloor. It’s an album revealed as a subtle delight, and one you’ll want to revisit again and again.
