People that say music isn’t as good as it used to be – Dance or otherwise – have got their heads stuck inside the past. This is a great album full of forward thinking possibilities complete with Nick Monaco’s provocatively soulful vocals, live instrumentation and sparkling technology. Whether that’s occurring on the summertime-esque ‘Ancient Ritual’ feat. Brandon Cain, or on the punchy rhythms of the proceeding, ‘BabyFace’ this long player isn’t afraid of tempting or teasing you. As a sentiment,’ I Can’t Breathe Without You’ is hard to beat, but then the B52’s referencing ‘Brooklyn Is A Submarine’ featuring Slow Hands is party-time central. And keeping you guessing right to the end is anthem in waiting, ‘Freak Flag’ containing the immortal words: Let your freak flag fly. Say no more.
