Ubiquity’s latest find, NOMO takes an improvised, instrumental approach to his music but always gives the listener a head start with a riff or two to underpin each track. Occasionally the solos can get a bit much but by and large they complement the harmonies, and there’s plenty of zip, style and invention here, over broken beats that prove to be both uplifting and energetic. Well worth a try for Gilles Peterson types.
