Ask about deeply textured music that’s about the groove and nothing but, chances are it won’t be long before you’re pointed in the direction of King Britt’s productions. Following this philosophy well, his latest opus sees him exploring his electronic roots, artists like Derrick May, Juan Atkins, even Laurie Anderson, Depech Mode, and Stockhausen, delivering a CD-only trip through the outer realms of club atmospherics where electronically enhanced techno and house gradually merge. With no titles beyond Dream 1, Dream 2, etc, this could quite easily become self-indulgent in lesser hands, but King Britt is the undoubted master, slipping easily from darker moods to sexed out funk. Lie back, relax and let the sonic waves take you deeper.
