OCTAVE ONE FEAT, RANDOM NOISE GENERATION
OFF THE GRID
TRESOR

One of those occasional hookups which make techno so much fun has happened here between Berlin’s mighty Tresor and Detroit’s 430 West – two operations which rose through the 90s with an escalating series of peaks. Octave One’s Lawrence and Lenny Burden make beautifully-crafted but lethal electronic dance music concoctions which take on a tougher hue when they turn into Random Noise Generation. This collection ropes together a bunch of highlights including ‘Mind’s Reality’, ‘Love & Hate’ and the majestic ‘Wiretaps’. The upliftment, dexterity and penchant for a departure like the hiphop groove of ‘Tears’ is what Octave One devotees expect, especially when a killer like ‘Headrush’ steams in. Icing on a towering cake is a DVD featuring full-length gig, ‘Blackwater’ live and the ‘lost’ ‘Black On Black’ video. Detroitists can only slaver at this essential slab of techno history.
