Piedmont
Strange World Beyond
My Best Friend

Piedmont’s debut album shows how they have come to be admired by luminaries such as Richie Hawtin, Carl Cox and John Digweed. Their approach can be quite sparse, but it’s always rhythmic, no matter how much or little is going on. While they tend not to focus on melodies so much it’s the percussive element of machine noises that they work so well into their music, so that tracks like ‘Central Mouth’ press forward with real momentum. ‘Cages Or Snares’, ‘Lighter Then Seawater’ and ‘Carbonat’ make a really good opening trio, while the established ‘Black Smoker’ is a real treat still. Good, no nonsense techno music, which works a treat for late nights whether you’re in or out.
