Canada’s James Teej has well and truly excelled himself with “Spending Life”, not only has he done a top notch production, but he’s also written and performed the lyrics with feeling. “Spending Life” opens with melancholic organ and James’ downtrodden vocals about personal struggles and global troubles. As the percussive rhythms build around the 4/4 beats, subtle key riffs send ripples through the songs strong sense of atmosphere. James Teej has carefully crafted a classy house anthem of our times. On the remix front Affikt & Fiddo jazz it up with a samba bump, while Ripperton gets spooky with a deep space techy dub.
