What producer Stuart Price did for Madonna’s via the ‘Confessions On A Dancefloor’ album, he has also done for the return of Seal. Going back to his electronic roots, with the single ‘Amazing’ one his best tracks since the days of ‘Killer’ and ‘Crazy’. Three Grammy’s and more than 15-million albums sold worldwide in the 17-years since have made Seal Henry Olusegun Olumide Adeola Samuel one of the most successful British music exports. ‘System’ is possibly also his strongest album in over a decade. His ninth opus opens with the soaring ‘If It’s In My Mind, It’s On My Face’ – an epic sounding creation that underscores what’s to follow; a return to his former glories of close-to-pop-perfection, which he described as a return to the roots of his first album. The acoustic strumming on ‘Just Like Before’ and his duet with his wife, Heidi Klum, on ‘Wedding Day’ sounds not unlike Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush in a former life. While ‘The Right Life’, pencilled in as a further single, show why Price’s involvement is the best career move the artist has made since his Trevor Horn days; beauty, simplicity and hit songs.
