For a couple of years now this Japanese collective has been building a steady following with the US house market thanks to a number of acclaimed albums and collaborations. ‘The Rising Sun’ pulls together the best mixes and a brace of unreleased tracks from the duo that enlist vocalists of the calibre of Ron Carroll, Blaze, Stephanie Cooke and Kenny Bobien to translate their sound. With four original albums already to their name their reputation as one of the finest deep-house producers to emerge from Japan (ever) is more then evident here. Cuts like Rasmus Faber restyling of ‘I’m In Love’, Quentin Harris’ soul-etched interpretation of ‘Beautiful Sunrise’ and ‘We Are Lonely’ and Kenny Bobien’s feel-good delivery on ‘Justifiable’ (that sounds like a cross between CeCe Rogers ‘Someday’ mixed with a touch of the Luther’s). Classy stuff.
