Techno enjoys its own strain of ‘mystery artists’ who remain anonymous, present brain-boggling liner notes and, in the process, create a mystique fostered by truly new music. Dopplereffekt are rumoured to come the Drexciyan camp in Detroit and that would figure with the sonic science and physics of sound running through their manifesto. Tracks like ‘Dimension 11’, ‘Calibi Yau Manifold’ and ‘Mirror Symmetry’ shimmer with other-worldly pulses, bottomless frequencies and electro traces. ‘Hypereleptic n.O. Form’ evokes UR when they choose to venture into deepest space. This album is not invitingly floor-friendly or even of a chillout techno variety but it sails past mere boffinry to do what techno set out to do in the first place with exploring technology.
