THE CHAP
HAM
LO RECORDINGS

The quartet of ‘I Got Flattened by a Pig Farmer’ fame, follow up ‘The Horse’ with quirks in fitful states of get-up-and-go. ‘Long Distance Lovin” is ‘Ham’ in half-snapshot – the sound of sketches being drawn, screwed up, hurled bin-wards and then un-creased again. Wrong way round guitars slung at super-low levels, lyrical flippancy, amp-spanking static and major league distortion, electronic chin-stroking camply-wrapped and punk wildness sometimes poked with strange code-breaking pitter-patters. And then, after unplugging each other, comes tentative down-low scribbling that borders on downright knackered, as if overcome by the opening exchanges.
