“Pay TV” is the second single to be lifted from Laurent Garnier’s much lauded fifth LP “Tales Of A Kleptomaniac”. In it’s original form “Pay TV” is like a soundtrack to something you know you shouldn’t be watching, with it’s simple horror film riffs, that build in layers over intense crashing breaks and breathy gasps that get more frequent as the suspense heightens. Laurent Garnier has picked up the baton from DJ Shadow and ran with it. On the remix front The Emperor Machine go cosmic disco with valve overload. OK Bonnie At Tutu’s is a rather disturbing acid rock freak out, and last but by no means least Scan X goes straight to the basement for some heads down deep techno with plenty of trippy warped electronica. A futuristic package with not the slightest whiff of 80’s retro in sight.
