The Orb
Orblivion / Cydonia / Orbvs Terrarvm / Pomme Fritz
Universal

Dr Alex Patterson’s The Orb have often been called the Pink Floyd of the acid house generation, as their electronic layered textures, dub sonics, ambient washes and out of this world dialogue enhanced the revellers trips that the new wave of psychedelics were creating. ‘Pomme Fritz’ (1994), ‘Orbus Terrarum’ (1995), ‘Orblivion’ 1996 and ‘Cydonia’ (2001) were all released through Island Records back in the day. Into 2008 and Universal Catalogue have now got the recordings and they have had all four albums re-mastered, plus they all come with bonus CD’s of rare and previously unavailable mixes, also Kris Needs has been drafted in for extra sleeve notes on the deluxe packaging. Now if that don’t make you wanna chew on a window pane or put a microdot in your eye, gawd knows what will.
