The Presets
Apocalypso
Modular

The Presets’ second album is a confident, pumped-up affair, coming across like an early Depeche Mode fed through a modern day set of electronics. Don’t take that as an insult, mind, for their music isn’t as derivative as all that and contains a terrific energy, not to mention the odd sudden pull at the heartstrings in songs like ‘Yippiyo-Ay’. Where they move on from the 80s influences is in the beats department, upfront and punchy in their delivery. ‘A New Sky’ sports tougher credentials found in abundance through the album, which would be easy to sing along to if you weren’t dancing yourself silly at the same time!
