Listening to the Qemists’ album reminded me of the sort of thrill you could get from listening to the Prodigy in the ’90s. Their approach is direct and simple – to get people on the dancefloor, no matter what. And with powerful riffs that pack in their rock band past alongside thrilling drum and bass rhythms, it won’t take long to give in. Guest turns from Faith No More’s Mike Patton, Wiley and MC Navigator are all brilliant, while Alabama 3 vocalist Zoe Devlin Love adds a bit of soul to S.W.A.G.. What really impresses though is the band’s ability to transfer their hyperactive live sound on to disc, without losing an ounce of energy. Go forth, purchase and party!
