Thief is a bleeding chunk of Jazzanova, namely Stefan Leisering and Axel Reinemer, teaming up with vocalist Sascha Gottschalk. Quite where the boys find time to make so much music is anyone’s guess, but it doesn’t show in their blissful songwriting here. ‘Sunchild’ is a lightly folky album with a soft, Brian Wilson-type haze to some of the vocal harmonizing, with ‘Atlantic’ a perfect example. Dreamy acoustic numbers ‘(Like) Leaves’ and ‘Home’ are early summer gems in the making, while ‘Hold On, Hold On’ revs things up a bit with groovy funk. Well worth hearing.
