Tom Middleton
Lifetracks
Big Chill

It’s not as easy as you might think to make an interesting chillout album.
Far too often tracks designed to aid your horizontal state end up being little more than wallpaper, while the best examples allow you to choose whether you want to listen closely or not. Happily ‘Lifetracks’ rewards the latter group, and Tom Middleton uses his classical nouse to make tracks like ‘Sea Of Glass’, which works its harmonies in the style of Philip Glass.
Often Middleton spins faster loops over slower moving backgrounds, giving plenty of forward momentum, while he proves agile at fluctuating the speed of his beats. A strong downtempo record.
