Nubreed presents ‘Y4K’
Distinctive Records

A new year and a new Y4K mix comp, this time we are in the fine company of
Nubreed. The Australian producers have been on the quiet recently so a
return to the forefront of Breakbeat is more than welcome. Opting for the
more deep down and twisted sounds the scene has to offer, their Y4K mix
comprises of big atmospheric frequencies, profound beats and low slung bass
down. The laid back tech step vibes of Lusine ‘Flat’ begin the show, before
melting into an electronic fusion from Habersham. Veteran experimentalist
Tipper graces the stage with ‘Rare and Plentiful’ before ‘Over My Head’ by
ILS, orchestral Breakbeat if as you’ve never heard it. Other highlights
include Nubreed’s re-edited version of Poxy Music ‘Our Break’ that has to be
heard to be believed. Fellow Ozzie boy Andy Page unleashes the bass on
‘Vermouth’ making way for the mix compliers to rock out ‘Festa’. Texan
electronic renegade SOTEG hits the mark as per with ‘End of Six’, Si Begg
makes an appearance refusing to pigeonholed and tuning in a track with bass
so deep it could bring a whole rugby team to their knees. Leaving Kilowatts
to complete the journey with ‘Learn to Love Loneliness’, quite possibly one
of most crafted pieces of electronic music you’ll ever hear. This is a
hypnotic and genre meddling trip into the world of Breakbeat, one of the
most daring mix compilations you’re likely to hear this year. Definitely
worth seeking out.
