The second instalment from NYC’s Plant Music sees the next compilation of their music shine positively with this diverse set of music from five artists providing equally standout material. But perhaps none more so than the first offering from Allies For Everyone, ‘Record Is Over’ which combines tastefully deep tones alongside smoky vocals perfectly. Sonns then ease down the tempo with their breakbeat driven, ‘On My Mind’ which offsets atmospheric pads against the funky percussion and spoken words fittingly. Next, the excellent Whatever / Whatever pick up the pace with their rousing, ‘Ladyfingers’ sounding just right in the sunshine with shimmering keys and punchy vocal edits. Son of Sound add strident tech bass to their aptly titled, ‘Floor’s Yours’, with EZLV ft. George Azzi ending with the soulfully inclined vocals of ‘Control’ playing out against tough stabs.
