Worldwide Family Vol.1 Compiled By Lefto & Simbad
Brownswood

It’s a struggle these days to remember the last Brownswood album that wasn’t at the least very, very good – and here we have another to add to the ever growing list. ‘Worldwide Family’ is a compilation series that sees label manager Gilles Peterson handing over the reins to Lefto & Simbad, who have put together a CD each based on their worldwide travels. The results are inevitably varied and hugely enjoyable pair of discs. Lefto starts off with a bit more soul, including the clever references to the capital that make up Dela & The Headlesshunters’ ‘London Town’, before wheeling out the funk (Japan’s grooveman Spot) and the pure fun (Brassroots’ cover of Inner City’s ‘Good Life’). CD2 is more Anglo-American, but no less enjoyable – and includes breaks treats from Ave Blast & Cosmos Rodriguez, Greymatter & Klic and Zed Bias & Eddy Ramich, deep house from Kemeticjust and the broken up soul of Steve Lynx & Hellrazor. In short, a thoroughly invigorating collection of new and essential beats.
