Vitalic returns after four years with a second album that takes no prisoners. This is a thrilling record, make no mistake about it, with textures stripped back to reveal athletic bass lines that will cut many a woofer to ribbons. Although there are some no holds barred party records on here (‘Second Lives’ and ‘One About One’ for starters) there are also more subtle cuts, the likes of ‘Still’ having a strange grace and beauty. Yet this is such a powerful record, bringing electro and disco influences to the fore but adding something new on top, that distinctive Vitalic cutting edge. Get to the end without falling over, and you’ll just want to play it again straight away. Outstanding, fresh – and, to coin a word, vital.
