X-Press 2
Raise Your Hands: The Best Of
Skint

It’s easy to take X-Press 2 for granted. It may be a slightly odd time to release their greatest hits – and let’s hope another album is in the pipeline – but they’ve enjoyed fifteen years towards the top of the house music game. ‘Lazy’ remains their biggest commercial hit and has been done to death on radio and TV, but cuts like ‘Smoke Machine’, ‘London Xpress’ and ‘Muzik Xpress’ represent a twisted take on disco that works a treat in a club. Meanwhile the brooding ‘Muzikizum’ and cold ‘Kill 100’ show how they’ve been able to branch out in different directions, while more recently making imaginative choices of guest vocalists. Rocky, Diesel and Ashley Beedle fully deserve this retrospective.
