Alex M – Oblivion (Hang On Music) (27/06)

Any real techno fans will already be familiar with the work of the Hang On Music label. Under the fine stewardship of Alex M it has become an essential outlet for big grooves for the floor that make people move. Now they come correct with their first vinyl release and it is one served up by the boss himself, a fine Italian artist with real chops in the studio.

Oblivion opens things up with some rolling dub techno chords getting skewed about the sound waves as coarse claps make you move your ass. Meaty and macho, it is a class tune to kick off with. Only One is a full throttle techno banger with wild vocal cries, skewed synths tweeting and turning in the middle and rock solid drums down low. It really thumps hard. My Mind then also makes a big impact but does so with a deeper mood. Muttered vocals, icy hi hats and rippling chords all make it so. A Chord Mix of the same cut is even more richly musical and really sends shivers up the spine. This is a powerful relate full of real dynamic and designed for maximum dancing.
