DENNEY ‘Empire’ (FFRR)

FFRR has a long and rich history in House Music and it’s one of only a few labels which were able to keep the quality high during massive changes the industry was facing. Even though not all their recent releases found their way into my record bag, Denney’s latest offering certainly does. It is a record that is purely inspired by tunes that are now regarded as classics, which you can hear from the very first second of it. The track is a homage to the club with the same name in Middlesbrough, where Denney started to DJ as a then 17 year old boy. Now remembering his time there, ‘Empire’ is an exemplification of classic New-York style house music with a driving and infectious edge, that was the sound of the underground then and totally fitting for now.
Taking inspiration from the likes of Danny Tenaglia, John Creamer, Stephane K and Deep Dish, ‘Empire’ emulates their seminal sound.
For me it’s no wonder guys like Roger Sanchez, Damian Lazarus or Hot Since 82 are heavily caning it already-be sure to hear it near you soon!
