Diogo Strausz ‘Emancipacao’ (RAZOR N TAPE)

Release number 42 on the ever-delightful Razor N Tape label comes from a very interesting man from sunny Rio de Janeiro. His name is Diogo Strausz and besides being a blinding multi-instrumentalist the man is able to create strong moods with his productions, which of course is not a bad thing at all. Originally conceived by this Brazilian producer to be long-form tracks that showcase the deep musicianship of Strausz and his cohorts, extended organ and piano solos and instrumentation now stretch out in all their jazzy glory across one side of a heavyweight 180g 12”. As mentioned it’s all about the sunny, uplifting and percussive mood that’s created on the main track ‘Emancipacao’ and that’s probably the reason why US House legend Ron Trent himself has put his magic on the track by delivering a housed up, still percussive organ-driven 9 minute epic masterpiece in the making. No being overlooked should be the second track on the EP ’50 Anos Em 5’ which is an impressive slice of jazzy laidback Easy Listening with some acid bass in between. Great!
