There probably always was an electro element to Hextatic’s music, yet the duo’s really gone for it this time. Filled with tight bouncy breakbeats, phat synths and a varied range of vocal performances, new album ‘When Robots Go Bad’ nods at Goldfrapp, Tiefschwarz, Kraftwerk, DMX KrewÉ and even boasts a Clash sample. Diversity pays off as Brunson and Warren-Hill shop around for ideas and influences and come up with entertaining results.
