UK musical pioneer Subject 13 has leaned into many genres over his 30-year career, from jazz-step and tough-edged drum and bass to the hip hop sounds of ‘Dripping Sauce’, their latest single for R&S Records. Produced in collaboration with London MC & poet, Conscious Route, ”Dripping Sauce” drops it raw and real, spitting conscious lyrics over stark hard-hitting rhythms plugged into a minimal and bleepy futuristic soundscape. Subject 13 is a worldwide respected, genre-blending, music producer and dance music pioneer better known as Hackney resident, David Stewart. Fans range from contemporary tastemakers such as Gilles Peterson, Fabio & Grooverider, LTJ Bukem and EBTG’s Ben Watt. His development of the early rave sound saw him become hugely creative in the early drum & bass scene signing “Oceans” to Fabio’s label Creative Source and “Faith” to LTJ Bukem’s label, Good Looking.
