Affie Yusuf & Trevor Loveys return to the House of 909 after a considerable absence and with this release have certainly made the heart grow fonder. What’s so captivating here is the vocal chant which sounds almost restrained, yet feels addictive and anthem like. And it’s that uncomplicated combination of human voice and pulsating, electronic beats and bass that give this such a distinctive edge full of character. The excellent, ‘Chant Cooked’ version follows with further emphasis on the bassline, with Mr. C’s superlative eighties Chicago referencing remix already playing like an irresistible House Music favourite. Label co-host David Scuba then tweaks the atmosphere with heightened effects and extra muscle building the anticipation perfectly on this first-rate release from Superfreq.
