Faceless Recordings is the brand new label from Mexican duo Climbers and London-based Silky and Barber. They have certainly set their sights high with this and their initial release does them justice with an engaging vocal from Yasmine Asaiez sounding sometimes ethereal, sometimes melancholy. The excellent Original is reminiscent of classic 90’s Def Mix in that silky, soulfully rewarding way which isn’t touched upon so much these days. All of which is helpfully underpinned by dark pads giving it added intensity. Perhaps not surprisingly then Frankie Knuckles and Eric Kupper aka Director’s Cut provide a remix that lifts the mood with brighter chords and a definite feel-good bounce. Which leaves a great Silky mix to follow with in-vogue moody bass and further heavy notation, while label mate Barber explores an array of atmospheric sounds and treated vocals.
