It goes without saying that having Dave Seaman rep your label is quite the coup for anyone. Hive Audio are definitely in agreement there, having chased the British DJ/producer for some time before he finally clambered aboard here courtesy of the exceptional Gumball EP. As potent a party-starter as anything Dave has summoned up during his lengthy and celebrated production career, it’s proof indeed of a man who’s lost none of his nous since his most celebrated years.
Anyway, the EP in question is called the Gumball EP, and it sees Dave deliver one stunning original as well as a remix from one of Hive’s very own shining lights, Mr. Dario D’attis himself. The original is a taut affair full of spiky synths and refined sounding melodies. Ominous but also inviting, it’s sure to have many the dancefloor in a spin over the next few months. On the flip, we have the remix by D’attis, which helps bring the original to a whole new level entirely. More percussion fueled than its predecessor, it sticks to a more strict script but still captivates throughout. A really great EP all told.
