Dean Demanuele – ‘Lucky’ – (Dazed & Confused Records)

Maltese producer Dean Demanuele has had a great year in 2014. He has turned out some top collaborations with former Cadenza star Lee van Dowski and now finds himself with a tidy new two track EP on the Dazed & Confused label he runs so well. It comes after previous releases on great labels like Leena, Mobilee, Noir and Bedrock and confirms him to be a very unique talent in the tech house sphere. Up first here is Lucky, a deep and dark number with firm rubbery drums, spooky synth patterns and curious melodies that keep your head busy whilst your feet tap out the groove. It’s warm, rich and full blooded track that will heat through any dance floor. Next up is We R Well, a much more lumpy, big and bold track lead by its big marching drums and steel sounding pinging toms. A gnarly synth line skews about in the arrangement and some lazy claps help bring a sense of fluidity to the table, thereby rounding out another killer club cut.
