Rewind to the 90s (before most of you were born, I know) and Jade’s ‘Don’t Walk Away’ was blazing out of every hi-fi, walkman, boogie box, radio and car stereo. Forward wind to 2015 and Diplo and Sleepy Tom have done a grand job of rewiring Jade’s r n b classic, rechristening it ‘Be Right There’ (after a portion of the hook in the chorus and not just to confuse the 90s SWV fans like me) and making it a dance floor banger once more. Once you’ve got to the bottom of that conundrum, you’ll find that the music has been given a high power ‘charge and step back’ EDM splashing drums and whizzy effects defibrillation, which jolts big, bold nu-house life into the beast. Its Inception drop to the bassline and the sequin sparkle of Priscilla’s top flight vocal makes it a radio playlist head’s wet dream. Big, commercial, crossover hit – say no more.
