Djoko – Certified Feelin – (Domino Effect)

Since coming on to the scene relatively recently, the Domino Effect label has already had a profound effect on clubland. The label has become one of the most consistent performers in the modern British tech-house sphere, a fact that’s attributable to a handful of excellent received, crossover tracks. Even so, their latest really takes the biscuit. Coming at us from newcomer Djoko, Certified Feelin is a hoot from start to finish.

It’s the title track that gets us underway. Notable for its house/garage crossover sound, it’s a peak time number that’s been made with nothing but big room floors in mind. In that essence at least, it can be considered a job very well done indeed. Fabio Lendrum’s remix is as sprightly and energetic as they come, while Djoko’s next original isn’t bad either. That one is called ‘’I Never’’, and it sees the producer opt for a curious sound palette that’s indebted to some unlikely sounds. Ozzie’s rework is no less enticing, and it sticks out from the pack courtesy of its more house-inclined sound. The next two remixes come from Ben Bodie and Karl Lewis-Lynch, and although both are great it’s hard to look past the sultry sounds of Bodie’s remix as the EP’s standout moment. Either way, this is great work from all involved.
