Paul Schmidpeter – Lunacy – (Ampispazi)

Ampisipazi Recordings is one of the many labels doing its do in the techno hotspot that is Berlin. Here the offer up another tasty club morale in the form of an EP from German producer Paul Schmidpeter. His three originals come with a fine remix from MiK Santoro and make for one of the already revered label’s finest offerings.

Up first, Lunacy is a spine tingling tech cut with rich melodies unfolding over downbeat drums. It makes for an epic atmosphere and is the sort of cut that will really standout on dance floors. Bedlam is another richly melodic effort with long tailaed pads smeared all over stripped back beats. It’s one to take you higher and doe so in style. Prudence then goes slower, with more purposeful and loose limbed beats again off set by twinkling melodies up top. As such this is an emotive, brain soothing cut that makes for moving listening. Label boss Mik Santoto remixes this one into something a little more driven, with groaning vocals and scale riding pads all making for a mature and artistic experience. This is a top EP from a top label that is stuffed with a rare sense of electronic soul.
