Ignited within the first four bars and then looped into distraction, ‘The Illusionist’ opens this great release via the superlative joint talents of Doorly & Hauswerks. Blending together pulsating basslines and addictive percussion almost feels like the easy bit as the creative juices then converge with the addition of brooding, atmospheric breakdowns to get lost in. The curiously titled, ‘Swamp Donkey’ then completes with even funkier drums accompanied by yet more dark, undulating synth lines that just hit the slightly epic spot.
