Doza was fifty percent of Seattle jack maestros Lawnchair Generals in a previous life, the duo who pulled together a decent amount of fizzing bumpty bump a decade or so ago. Although that connection is still strong (last year he released on Sublevel Records, imprint of one of the genre’s masters Doc Martin), this is a completely different sound altogether – and one just as worth investing in.
‘It comes in waves’ is a lovely slab of subtly shifting house, high on the melody and managing to constantly keep the groove rolling along with bags of warmth. The other two tracks don’t really do much for my ears but when this provides such a laconic swagger it’s hard to find any kind of fault.
