Lee Walker ‘Freak Like Me’ (DJ Deeon vs Lee Walker Remix) (Defected)

File this under immediate anthem. If you’ve not already heard this tech house rumbler already then pull yourself from out of that rock and bask in the simplicity of what is just a great, great house tune. The vocal has the feel of the great early nineties MK about it, but at the same time radio friendly enough to appeal to the legions of his disciples that populate the more accessible floors of modern days. But it’s the crunching percussion and killer bass underneath that make it so wide ranging in appeal – a record that took centre stage when Marco Carola closed Music on at the tail of the last summer and you can hear seducing the crowds DJs as disparate as Dixon and Danny Howard command.

There will be better tracks than this released in 2016, but you’ll be hard pushed to find one so universal – a warehouse jam set for thousands of ringtones and tinny speaker powered back of the bus raves.
