Two names you will no doubt already be familiar with and this latest release for Back To You represents their combined sound to a T. Built around the interplay between uncompromising drums and cutting-edge Fender Rhodes chords, the chunky rhythm section and slightly melancholic keys fit together notably, yet feel disconcertingly laid back. Adam Shelton then flips it upside down with an increased tempo and Detroit overtones giving the positive vocal message a renewed sense of urgency. ‘Fletcher’s Curve’ eases the mood down once again with atmospheric layers of sound and classic drum machines, with the excellent Matthew Styles Remix exploring simmering tension through building electronic keys and funky snares.
