Federico Grazzini – I Like That – (Monza)

Although it doesn’t release with anything like the same sort of regularity it once did, Monza’s label arm has always been one of the most consistent performers in the house and tech house sphere. With all that in mind, their latest release is a stunning return to form, as Italian DJ/producer Federico Grazzini comes up with the goods on the stunning ’I Like That’ EP. As it happens, it’s an EP that we really like too.

The original is a taut and atmospheric jam that is uptempo throughout. Full of guile, it’s built around a cascading loop that’s as hypnotic as they come. After some time a new vocal comes into the equation, as does a pertinent kick that gives the track an added zest. A really crafty tool, this one is sure to work wonders during the night’s fervant hours especially.

The first of the remixes comes from Memoryman, who delivers an absolutely outstanding piece of work. He coats the original in a sheen of claps and snares, engulfing the listener in a hazy gulf of top drawer techno. Closing out the release is the sounds of Doomwork, who also offers up a captivating listen. His remix is the most energetic of the lot and is the sort of deep and dexterous offering that will work a charm in numerous sets. All things told, this is a cracking release from three solid performers.
